boaz-12.jpgHe stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 114 pounds, but he presents a formidable force when he toes the starting line of a race. Boaz Cheboiywo, 33, of Ypsilanti, came to the United States from Kenya to attend Eastern Michigan University just over a decade ago and found quick success as a runner.

The closest thing she had to competition was being on the sidelines as a cheerleader for the football and basketball teams at West Branch High School in Alport, Pa.

ChicagoMarathonLogo.jpgCHICAGO - Registration for the 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon closed in record time today as the maximum 45,000 participants signed up in six days for the 35th anniversary event. Demand to run the iconic race has increased significantly in recent years, closing 25 days faster than the previous record established last year. A decade ago, the 2003 event closed in 35 weeks.
