DETROIT (12/31/08) -- Luke Humphrey is originally from mid-Michigan, Desiree Davila from southern California. Both looked well-adapted to the cold as they made short work of Belle Isle’s frozen tundra on New Year’s Eve.

HOLLY (12/13/08) -- They wore thick scarves, stocking caps and layers of clothing, yet no matter how warmly they dressed, they still had incentive to run fast at Run Like the Dickens.
With temperature in the teens and wind chill in single digits, the event had its most teeth-chattering weather in its six-year history. Yet it continues to grow and flourish.
Holiday Hustle 5K/Mile is Hit

DEXTER (12/13/08) -- Festive fun was the essence of Running Fit’s first annual Holiday Hustle 5K and 1-mile runs.
Entrants received flashing Santa hats or reindeer antlers. On race director Randy Step’s “Go,” close to 800 runners and walkers stormed into snowflakes and neighbor streets.
Snowshoers Outrun Frostbite

TRAVERSE CITY (1/24/09) -- The chill was in the air, frosting hands and biting at tips of noses of the 264 snowshoers lined up in 5-degree temperatures for Running Fit’s Snowshoe Boogie.
Once the starting gun fired and the mass surged forward, the icy air became irrelevant as everyone’s heavy breathing soaked them in sweat.

Boyne 2 Boyne Features Hills Galore

HARBOR SPRINGS-BOYNE FALLS (9/27/09) — Nary a snowflake was in sight, but ski-happy Boyne Mountain still saw a lot of action hosting the third annual Boyne 2 Boyne marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K races.
The marathon and half marathon began at 8 a.m., the 10K and 5K an hour later. All ended near the Boyne Mountain Resort clock tower.
